Welcome to the exciting world of Forensics at Luxemburg-Casco Middle School!
The LCMS Forensics Club is dedicated to nurturing the talents of confident and skilled public speakers. Whether you're passionate about persuasive speeches, dramatic interpretations, or informative talks, our club is here to help you develop your communication skills and excel in the art of public speaking.
Here's a brief overview of how our club operates:
Orientation Meeting (Around Thanksgiving Break): At the beginning of the school year, we hold an orientation meeting where students will receive a detailed explanation of the different categories available for competition. This meeting will help you understand the expectations and requirements for each category.
Category Selection: After the orientation meeting, students will have the opportunity to select a category they are interested in competing in. If necessary, they can also form groups for certain categories.
Permission Slip: Once you've chosen your category and, if applicable, your group, you will need to bring a permission slip home for your parents or guardians to sign. This signed permission slip should be returned to your coach.
Establishment of Teams and Coaches (By December): Our goal is to have students matched with their chosen category, coach, and piece to practice by December. If you're part of a group, practices may take place after school. Individual category participants may have more flexibility and can meet with their coaches during lunchtimes.
Accommodating Athletes: We encourage student-athletes to participate in our club as well. If you have sporting events that may conflict with club activities, our coaches will work with you to make necessary accommodations.
Competition Season (January and February): The typical competition season for Level 1 and Level 2 competitions is in January and February. This is when you'll have the chance to showcase your skills and compete against other schools.
Joining our Forensics Club is not only a great way to improve your public speaking abilities but also to develop essential life skills such as effective communication, confidence in speaking in front of an audience, and the ability to craft compelling arguments.
We look forward to having you on board and helping you discover the power of your voice. If you have any questions or need further information, please don't hesitate to reach out to us. Let's make this year's forensics season a memorable one!
